This year, Conner got his very first hunting license. He was SO excited and so was Jason! Since he had a youth license, Conner was able to go out the weekend prior to opening day. This made Daddy happy to be able to see what was visiting their stand and this made Mommy happy because I knew that the woods wouldn't be packed with other hunters! Jason and Conner were in a tree stand and Conner was hunting with a cross bow. As Jason described it, two deer came right under their stand. Conner took his first shot and missed but the deer did not move! This gave Jason enough time to help Conner reload an arrow and he shot again and got the deer! Conner was SO excited (and so was Jason). They called right away and Conner told me he felt like his heart was going to come out of his chest it was beating so fast! What a great "first" for Conner! Conner got the deer right before dusk so it was dark when they brought it home for me to see. Conner came running in and was so excited for me to go out and look. Jeremiah came over too to see this prize deer! The three of them loaded it up and took it to Baker's Camp to be processed. Jason said that when they got to the processor's that he made Conner take it in (he carried it in on a sled). The guys that own and work at Baker's camp made Conner's night - they were so so proud of him too! Such fun memories!
